Assistant Pastor Search

  • We are relaunching the Crieve Hall congregation
  • We have a deep desire to provide Crieve Hall with all it needs to grow and thrive
  • We are making a significant investment by beginning a search for an assistant pastor to come alongside Dave and exclusively focus on Crieve Hall
  • Dave has many roles in the Midtown movement and as those responsibilities have grown he is unable to give Crieve Hall the attention that it deserves
  • We have formed a prayer and advisory team who will lead this search
  • Pray with us that we will find the person to serve in this role
  • We are excited to see what the Lord is doing during this relaunch of Crieve Hall!

Town Hall Meetings

If you would like to attend, please register below so we can know how many people to expect.

Prayer & Advisory Team

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this mean for the Crieve Hall congregation?

In the coming months the leadership at Midtown will work with the Crieve Hall elders and the Crieve Hall prayer and advisory team to find a dedicated assistant pastor for the Crieve Hall congregation.  Dave will continue serving Crieve Hall as he always has, and once an assistant is found, there will be an extended transition period to ensure a smooth handoff of responsibilities.  The Crieve Hall congregation can expect regular updates as we go through this process.

What does this mean for the Midtown movement?

After the assistant at Crieve Hall has been hired and onboarded, all congregations at Midtown will benefit from Dave’s leadership and investment in our vision of gospel transformation through multiple congregations as we impact Nashville.  Dave will be able to dedicate more time and energy partnering with each pastor leading his congregation in continued maturation of the body and in evangelism.

Why did we decide to make this move now?

The process of transitioning Dave to a new role is really formalizing how he has functioned at Midtown for many years.  In fact, Dave has been operating as the senior associate pastor of Midtown and as lead pastor at Crieve Hall for years.  As Dave’s responsibilities have expanded, it has become clear that Crieve Hall needs someone who can exclusively focus on the needs of the Crieve Hall congregation.

Will Dave be preaching anymore?

Yes!  We are also excited to create a rotational preaching schedule for our congregation and our new assistant pastor.

How will Dave spend his time in the new position?

Dave will be working closely with Randy to invest in the continued growth and maturity of our pastoral staff, and he will be overseeing the development of our youth ministry and its director, Taylor Kelly.

What are some of the qualifications we are looking for in the new assistant pastor?

We are looking for a man who can add to the great foundation that Dave and the elders have established for Crieve Hall.  He will need to be a strong teacher and evangelist, be able to work with the elders to provide pastoral care for the growing Crieve Hall congregation, work well on the Crieve Hall team, and continue to develop the Crieve Hall community. It’s important also that the new person brings new skills to the Crieve Hall position so we can continue to grow from his wisdom and experiences.

What if I know of a pastor who might be interested in the position? What if I have a candidate to recommend?

This position is listed on our website, so please send them the link if they are interested in joining the process.

How long will this search process take?

There is no specific timeline/deadline for this search.  The focus will be getting the right person for Midtown and for Crieve Hall.  It could be just a few months or could extend beyond 2021.  We will be regularly updating the Crieve Hall congregation as the search progresses.

What role will Crieve Hall elders be playing in the process?

As the shepherds and leaders of the congregation, the Crieve Hall elders will be actively involved throughout the search process and will be spending time screening the top candidate(s).  The elders will have final vetting and hiring authority for the new assistant pastor.

How will the congregation at Crieve Hall be involved? How can we help?

Please be praying for the search process and that God blesses us with finding the right man.  We will be regularly updating progress on the search and sharing prayer needs in the coming months.  We have identified a group of Crieve Hall members as a prayer and advisory team to assist us in the search process.  They will be led by elders Mitch Goskie and Paul Moak and offer prayer, assistance and input as we go through the process.

Who is on the Prayer and Advisory Team? What is their role?
