After four years of prayer and searching, the Granny White Elders and Prayer and Advisory Team are beyond excited to announce that we have officially hired Gary Anderson. He is joining the Midtown staff as a Pastor In Residence while he completes requirements for ordination in the PCA. After that process is completed, he will serve as the lead pastor at our Granny White congregation.
Gary and his wife Beth have four children (Maggie-13, Howie-11, Rose-8, George-6). He grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio area. After studying business and economics at Wheaton College in Illinois he spent ten years working for an investment firm headquartered in the suburbs of Chicago. Sensing a call to full-time ministry, in 2015 he and his family moved to the Boston area to attend Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity degree. He has most recently served as the lead pastor of a church in the Bay Area of California.
Please be praying for them as they faithfully make a big transition here to Nashville this fall. We are beyond grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness and kindness to us. Gary is a gifted leader and teacher of the Word. We are excited to have him and his family join the Granny White family!

Gary will be hired as a Pastor in Residence and working to complete his ordination in the PCA. Upon ordination, we will begin the process of transitioning him into being the full time pastor of Granny White.
Dependent on finding housing and school placement for the kids, the targeted date is late October or early November.
Not yet. One of Gary’s first order of business is to study for his ordination with the PCA.
This is a very intense studying process that includes both written and oral exams in Bible, systematic theology, the Book of Church Order, the sacraments, and church history. It can take up to six months.
Alongside his studies, Gary will be regularly meeting with the Midtown movement pastor team and will be spending time with our Granny White session, small group leaders and congregants. He will be mentored during this process by Randy and Dave Burden.
The first step is for Gary to complete his ordination in the PCA. Following his ordination, there will be a transition period as he steps into the Granny White lead pastor role. We are hopeful that this transition would begin in the spring of 2023.
One of the best ways for you to help is by praying for the Andersons. Pray that the Lord would provide housing and smooth school transitions, and that his grace, faithfulness and blessing would be evident to them as they leave their church community in California and begin to call Nashville home.
We can’t wait for you to meet the Anderson family and they can’t wait to meet you! We will celebrate and welcome them in a variety of settings in the fall 2022.
