Silence and stillness before God (2 Min)

Read Philippians 2:1-11

I’m third

Verses 1-4
Paul continues to talk about how we treat each other in telling us to do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit. We are to guard our hearts against selfish attitudes–putting ourselves first in how we live and conduct our lives. In fact, we are to humble ourselves so much that we consider others’ needs more important than our own. One of the ways that we do that is to take up the interest of others. My grandmother loved to cook, which was great because we loved to eat. Funny… she was always the last to eat because she got so much pleasure from serving us and watching our joy. When we put the others first, we don’t miss out. Rather, we participate with the divine and find a joy that goes much deeper than being first in line.

Where are you selfish and conceited?
Where can you begin to serve those around you?
How do you take up the cause of someone else?
