Silence and stillness before God (2 Min)

Read Philippians 2:19-30

Gospel Friendship,  Step 3

Epaphroditus? You think his friends called him “Epap”? You’ve heard the saying, “go the extra mile”. Well,  this friend took that to the extreme. The church in Philippi was concerned for Paul in prison so “Epap” volunteered at his own expense to travel almost 1,200 miles to check in on him! That’s like traveling from Nashville to Denver on Barefoot Airlines. What kind of person does this? Well, Paul tells us:

A brother or sister

A fellow worker

A fellow soldier

“Epap”didn’t become those things because he traveled 1200 miles.  He traveled 1200 miles because he was those things. I’m guessing that his relationship with Paul began when Christ sent Paul halfway around the world to find him. It was Christ that made them brothers, but it was their love for Christ that made them fellow workers and soldiers. When the gospel sets us free, it changes the way we see each other, and also changes the purpose of our relationships.

Who are the friends that Christ has put in your life?

What does it look like to be a fellow worker with them?

What does it look like to be a fellow soldier?
