Rejoice in the Lord…and Roller Coasters

Roller coasters: one of man’s greatest achievements…ok, it’s at least up there with the hotdog and remote controls.

Click, click, click….if you have ever ridden the Steel Dragon you know what I’m talking about, “You must go up before you go down.” Paul is about to take us on a wild ride this week, but first we must go “UP” and that is rejoicing.

It’s the natural response to God’s grace, but it’s also a believer’s discipline every day. When we make rejoicing a part of our life Paul calls it a  “safeguard”. It protects me because it makes me dependent on the Holy Spirit for guidance, teaching, strength and wisdom.  Where does rejoicing come from?

Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is with you,

    the Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you;

    in his love he will no longer rebuke you,

    but will rejoice over you with singing.”

God’s grace is the Lord rejoicing over you. You are His joy! My joy comes from His joy in me.

What does rejoicing look like in your life?

What do you have to rejoice in?

Will you rejoice right now?
