WEEK 6, DAY 2
Silence and stillness before God (2 Min)
Read Philippians 3:1-11
Confidence in the flesh
In a Jewish mind, circumcision was a sign of being God’s people, His chosen possession, set apart. Simply put, if you didn’t have the sign, you didn’t belong. They held this belief so deeply that they wanted the new Gentile believers to be circumcised and Paul said “NO”!!!
The Gospel is Jesus plus nothing! There is nothing I can add to Jesus’ work on the cross and his resurrection that can make me more acceptable to God. Jesus did it all.
Ha, those crazy circumcision debates, we would never do that……..would we?
Think about it for a moment. What do you think makes you acceptable to God? When do you feel God isn’t for you, or is disappointed. Don’t we often believe that we are in God’s favor more when we do religious things like go to church or small group?
Good news: Jesus did it all! I can live my life as one who is accepted, loved, chosen and set apart. I can go into the world full, rather than looking for life to fill me up.
What makes you acceptable to God?
What gets in the way of you believing that?
What do you chase when you don’t feel accepted or loved?
