Silence and stillness before God (2 Min)

How to take hold, Step 1

Verse 12
When my kids were young and had not yet learned to swim, I would wrap them up in my arms and take them out into the pool. They were filled with excitement, fear and some serious questions about my swimming ability, which all resulted in a death grip locked around my neck. Is that what Paul is talking about here? We have taken hold of what has us? Yes, but it’s just a little different.
When my kids realized I was an expert swimmer (it’s easy to impress a three-year-old) they loosened their grip around my neck and began to rejoice and celebrate the freedom they had in my arms. Trusting the One who has us, and finding freedom in His loving grasp is taking hold of Jesus. It seems the more I learn about His love, His promises and His faithfulness, the more I seem to enjoy the pool.
