WEEK 7, DAY 4
Silence and stillness before God (2 Min)
Read Philippians 3:12-4:1
How to take hold, Step 4
Imitation? Think about the people you admire. We often admire and try to imitate people who have accomplished great things in business, sports, politics or art. It seems a bit arrogant for Paul to ask the Philippians to imitate him, until you remember what Paul says about himself. Remember, he was the guy that was blinded by his zeal to persecute the church until Jesus appeared to him and gave him sight. He was the guy that called himself the chief of sinners. He was the guy that lived with a thorn in the flesh. He was a man that was saved by grace. A man that had more confidence in Christ than in himself. The writer of Hebrews teaches us not to imitate another man’s call or life, but rather his faith.
7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Where do you see faith in the people around you?
How are you encouraging the people in your life by your own faith?
