On Sundays from 4-6pm during the school year and on Wednesdays from 6-8pm during the summer, 6th-12th grade students and their small group leaders gather at Midtown Granny White. During the first hour of the evening, students and leaders fellowship, play games, and worship together. The second half of the evening is spent in discipleship groups split up by grade and gender. In these groups, adult volunteer leaders facilitate student discussion about a Bible passage and how God’s Word affects their head, their hearts, and their hands.
Sunday night discipleship groups provide a springboard for small group leaders to disciple students in a one-to-one setting outside of group. Volunteers will build relationships with students and parents that allow them to speak into student’s lives and spur them towards gospel transformation and holistic maturity.
Each year the Youth team hosts camps and retreats for middle and high school students! These trips allow students and leaders to deepen relationships, enjoy time for rest, play, and worship, serve in their community, and grow together in their relationships with Jesus. Here are our current retreat and camp offerings.
Every January our middle school students and leaders take part in Winter Adventure, an overnight retreat at YMCA’s Camp Widjiwagan! This weekend is all about PLAY & EXPLORATION! We spend lots of time exploring the beautiful grounds at Camp Widji (i.e. scavenger hunts, rope swing, rock wall, archery, and much more) as well as exploring God’s Word and learning more about what it means to be a beloved child of God. Sign-up information for Winter Adventure is released in early December!
Each February, our high school students and leaders are invited to attend Refuge, a weekend retreat several hours outside of Nashville. This weekend is all about REST & CONNECTION! We spend time resting, playing, worshiping, enjoying the outdoors and learning more about discipleship, leadership, and the Gospel. Sign-up information for Refuge is released in early January!
Camp Nash is an overnight summer camp hosted in Nashville, TN for middle school students. The camp is focused on maturing together in the Gospel in the way we interact with and serve others. The week includes opportunities for 6th–8th grade students and their leaders to serve with various organizations around the city of Nashville, participate in daily times of worship, teaching, and small group discussions, and enjoy LOTS of fun and games
GO:NYC is a service and learning trip to New York City for high school students. The trip is focused on continuing to grow together in the Gospel in the way we interact with and serve others. Throughout the week, 10th-12th grade students and their leaders serve with and learn from various organizations and schools in the South Bronx, participate in daily times of worship, reflection and discussion and explore some of what the incredible city of New York City has to offer!
It is our joy to welcome 6th—12th graders from each of our Midtown congregations as well as students who may not have a youth ministry or a church home! If any of these descriptions sound like you, check out the links below to find out how to get involved with Midtown Youth!
Here at Midtown Youth, we believe that parents are the primary disciplers of their children. It is for this very reason that we LOVE to partner with parents in not only intentionally loving and serving their children but also in providing ongoing discipleship resources and learning opportunities for Midtown Youth parents!
Midtown Youth is blessed with a phenomenal team of adult volunteer leaders from across Midtown’s congregations. This team is committed to gospel transformation in their own lives and in the lives of the students they serve. If God is placing a call on your heart to serve Him by building relationships with and discipling the students of Midtown, please consider reaching out to a Youth staff member to learn more!
