Midtown East is hosting Daystar Ministries! Join us for an evening designed for parents of kids of all ages at 7pm on Wednesday, March 20. Daystar is a counseling organization that helps numerous parents and organizations through one-on-one counseling and group seminars. We look forward to spending an evening learning from them together!

Raising Kids in a Technological World

It has never been more difficult or more important to help kids navigate and incorporate technology in healthy and constructive ways. We will spend time discussing how the digital revolution is interacting with the social, emotional, and cognitive development of kids. We will also look at pragmatic ways to keep kids safer as they interact on devices and ways parents of younger children can prepare for this next phase of parenting.

Counselor: Sherman Bucher, MA, NCC

Sherman received his masters in counseling from Trevecca University and quickly became a valuable part of the Daystar team. He acts as the Director of Child & Adolescent Counseling and heads up the Summer Experiences at Daystar.  Sherman meets with initial assessments, leads groups and counsels boys throughout the year. Ever since his days as a youth pastor in Florida, Sherman has enjoyed building relationships with boys, often with a focus on social and emotional development. Sherman speaks in the community about issues of addiction and sexual development. When he’s not counseling, he likes getting outside, savoring a cup of coffee and a good book, and playing with his three young children.
