What to Expect

Kids are broken out by age into one of several classrooms covering infants through fifth grade. Each classroom has at least two volunteers, while support staff mill around and are available to lend an extra set of hands when needed. After checking in, 1st–5th graders join us in the service for the first two songs and then head to their classroom. Everyone else starts in their rooms!

  • Drop Off / Pick Up

Our Kidtown entrance is located on the south side of the building, opposite the main parking lot. When you show up, you’ll be greeted by a friendly face who will gather your information at a check-in stand to ensure we can contact you if needed. You’ll be able to walk your child to their classroom before heading up the stairs for service.

After service is over, you’ll head to your child’s classroom and show the tag that you received at check-in. After verifying a match, you can bring your child back into the sanctuary or out onto the playground to play with the new friends they’ve made.

  • Safety

Leaving your children in a new place with new people is a big deal. We take that responsibility seriously. All of our volunteers are background checked and trained. Our policies and procedures promote child safety and respect for children and their bodies. Children are never alone with an adult.

Your child’s name tag, which you’ll stick on them at check-in, has a personalized identification code on it. When it is time to check them out, a volunteer in their classroom will verify a match before releasing the child.

  • Wellness Policy

In order to protect the health of our volunteers and other children, kids must be symptom free from the following (without medication) for at least twenty-four hours before entering Kidtown:

    • Fever of 100 degrees or higher
    • Vomiting or diarrhea
    • Conjunctivitis (Pink eye or other infection)
    • Rash
    • Nasal drainage that is green or yellow
    • Open sores
    • Cold
    • Excessive coughing
    • Lice
  • Lesson Content

Lessons are age appropriate, and cover the main storyline of the Bible, emphasizing God’s gracious provision of Jesus as savior and the good news of the gospel.

Age groups

Nursery / Walkers

This class is for children who are at least six months old. Little ones stay in this class until they turn 2. It meets down the hall behind the check in desk.

2 year olds

Once 2, kids join this group. This class has a basic lesson so kids can begin to become familiar with scripture and who God is. We also start to do some worship!

3 and 4 year olds

These children sing and engage with a bible lesson along with the 5/K class and have their own space to play and craft.

5 year olds – Kindergarten

Through song and story, these kids engage the gospel with plenty of time to make friends and play together.

1st – 2nd Grade

These kids join us in service for the first two songs. During the break, they gather at the front of the sanctuary. From there they are led to their own classroom, with games and a lesson.

3rd – 5th Grade

Like the 1st-2nd graders, these kids join us in service for the first two songs and are then led to their own classroom. From there they dive into games and conversations about the gospel while being in community with their peers.
